I have something entrenched in my mind (pun very much intended, this blog post is going to be about trench coats, I am proud of this moment). On the days it's been pissing it down recently, I have been reaching for my trench coat. It's last season from H&M and I think it's such a good one! It's taken my a while to get into trench coats. I remember doing a Testing Basics on trench coats maybe two years ago, and really not enjoying it because I didn't love wearing them at all! I feel finally my opinion on this changing, and I am feeling more confident with how to style them too. I think they key is to have them oversized (is this not always the key?!) so they they don't feel too traditional. Of course the classic trench coat beige also looks amazing with everything - and feels really nice to wear as a part of my transitional wardrobe.
It feels too soon to be making final decisions on what winter coat to invest in, but at the moment this Toteme black trench is really catching my eye. I think, due to my new found love for styling trenches, I would love to welcome a black one into my wardrobe for Winter. And of course Toteme have nailed it - the slightly cocooned shape, the double breasted brown buttons. I would wear it with all kinds of denim; cropped, black, classic blue. With black turtlenecks and cream fishermen's knits in the winter, and white t-shirts and shirts in the meantime. I am going to keep mulling this over for the next week or so before making a decision!
Here, I am styling my H&M one with my Levi's Ribcage jeans, a tank top from Uniqlo, my Manolo shoes and Bottega bag. I have also linked some other lovely trench coats here:
